Hello Administrator,
We are writing to let you know that we have recently launched a new on/off switch for Brand Accounts, which impacts 13 account(s) in your Admin Console.
For users to access or to continue accessing Brand Accounts, you must turn on the Brand Accounts service by July 19, 2021. This service should only be turned on for users that are over the age of 18. Only turn on Brand Accounts for organizational units or groups where all users are over the age of 18.

What does this mean for my organization?

Brand Accounts allow users to use YouTube and Google My Business with a separate identity (a brand identity) that is not publicly linked to their regular Google Account identity. These accounts are most commonly used to create and manage YouTube channels under an organization name or alias.

What do I need to do?

  • To maintain access: if you received a temporary exception in 2019, you are still required to turn on the new on/off switch for Brand Accounts in the Admin Console for those users to retain access (you can find the steps below).
  • To grant new access: moving forward, you’ll need to turn this switch on for any users over the age of 18 that you would like to have Brand Account access.

How to turn Brand Accounts on for my users

  1. Go to the Admin Console.
  2. Under “Additional Services” toggle the “Brand Accounts” switch ON only for users over the age of 18.

FAQs

How will my organization be impacted if I don’t enable Brand Accounts?
If you do not take this action, your users’ access to Brand Accounts will be suspended and their Brand Accounts will be removed after July 19, 2021.
  • If all owners on the Brand Account are disabled, the account will be deleted. The account may be reinstated for 21 days after initial deletion, after which it will be permanently deleted.
  • If only some of the owners are removed, the Brand Account will remain active.
  • Google will send a notification to impacted end users before their accounts are deleted.
